She was born Oct. 2, 1919, in Ludlow, the daughter of Roy and Rosa (Anthony) Furman.
She attended Ludlow schools and graduated from Black River Academy in 1938.
She married William A. Gorsky on March 9, 1940, in Ludlow. He predeceased her on March 28, 1994.
She was employed as a housekeeper for several families in the Springfield area. She worked in the cafeteria at Springfield High School for many years, and the cafeteria at the Fellows Gear Shaper.
She lived on Valley Street in Springfield for more than 60 years, moving to The Maples in Springfield in 2004.
She was named Springfield's Senior of the Year in 2001, and received the Community People Award in 2002. She was an active member of the Springfield Senior Center, the R.S.V.P. and St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Springfield.
She enjoyed cribbage, knitting and camping.
Survivors include a son, William P. Gorsky of Chester; a daughter, Rosalie Ovitt of Reading; a brother, Warren Furman of Rutland; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by two brothers, Alden Furman and Lee Furman, and four sisters, Cora Sumner, Pearl Picard, Ruth Belisle and Grace Cole.
A private memorial service will be held at St. Mark's Church in Springfield at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery in Ludlow in the spring.
