Caroline was born as Catharina Mårtensdotter and immigrated to Minnesota in 1880.

The Berg family, consisting of Robert, his wife Lena, and their two oldest daughters Ruby and Jennette, immigrated to Suffield, Alberta May 25 1910 along with the Coe family consisting of Edgar, his wife Margueria, and their five oldest children: Lawrence, Earl, Ione, Clyde, and Leon.
Lena and Margueria were sisters.
