Edna "Annmama" (Cannon) Hamrick, 87, of Wellford, SC, entered heavenly peace on Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home.
Born May 27, 1924, she was a daughter of the late Lou Hampton and C. Parker Cannon. The youngest of ten children, she was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She was predeceased by her devoted husband of 68 years, Richard Andrew Hamrick, on July 25, 2011.
For most of her life she was a loyal member of Startex United Methodist Church, serving on various committees and as an adult Sunday school teacher. Recently, she moved her membership to Lyman United Methodist Church.
She and Richard delivered Mobile Meals and were active members of the Startex Retirees. Edna was a hair stylist for many years, working from her home salon in order to take care of her children. She later worked at a receptionist in several offices and retired from Boiling Springs High School as guidance secretary.
A loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Annmama will be remembered for her quick wit and for delicious birthday cakes, cookies, and fruit cakes she baked and so generously gave to those she loved.
Surviving are two daughters, Ann Turner (Mannon) of Spartanburg and Deborah Kelly (Charles) of Moore; two sons, Richard Andrew Hamrick II (Ann) of Spartanburg and George Cannon Hamrick (Rena) of Mt. Pleasant; eleven grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 28, 2012 at Wood Mortuary, 300 West Poinsett Street, Greer, conducted by Rev. Brian Gilmer, Rev. Terry Martin and Rev. Bob Carlisle. Burial was in Wood Memorial Park.
Visitation was held 12:45-1:45 p.m. Saturday, January 28, 2012 at Wood Mortuary.
Memorials could be made to Mobile Meals of Spartanburg, P.O. Box 461, Spartanburg, SC, or to Lyman United Methodist Church, 106 Groce Road, Lyman, SC.
