Edwin Glen Drake, 95, passed away January 21, 2012 surrounded by his loving family.
Edwin was born December 18, 1916 in Cedar Rapids, Nebraska to William Daniel and Leota McDonald Drake.
Edwin served during World War II under the Command of General Eisenhower in The European Theater, 823rd Tank Destroyer, Company B, as a Tank Commander, earning a purple heart.
He retired from Burton Walker Lumber Company in January 1982, after 42 years of service.
He married Margaret Brewer and had two daughters, Betty and Leola. They later divorced. He married June Sams and had one son Gale. They later divorced. He married the love of his life Norene McFarland May 13, 1946. They had two sons Robert and David. Their vows were solemnized June 5, 1946 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Edwin was a proud man and loved his grandchildren and time spent "tinkering" out in the yard and garage.
He is survived by his children: Robert G. Drake, Betty Shear, Gale L (Carol) Drake, daughter-in-law, Marti Drake, sister, Norma Davis and many grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Norene, children Leola Smoot and David Drake.
Gravesides services will be held Saturday, January 28, 2012 at 2:30 p.m. at the Roy City Cemetery, 5200 South 2300 West where Military Honors will be accorded by the veterans honor guard.
