Leland Alwood Bangen was born June 3, 1929, at Sanish, ND, the youngest of seven children born to Sara and Anton Bangen. He graduated from Minot High in 1947 and, on June 25, 1950, he married Doris Lee on June 25, 1950.
He worked for the Great Northern Railroad and Souris River Telephone company before moving to Denver, Colorado, in 1961. There he worked for Public Service Company of Colorado as an electrician.
Lee died of cancer on November 26, 1982, in Denver. He is survived by his wife, Doris, children Barry, Leanne, and Kelli (Jim) Hartman and one granddaughter, Lindsi Hartman. He is buried in Crown Hill Cemetery.
