Birth: Jun. 13, 1941
Death: Oct. 7, 2003

(Obituary from Funeral Home Website)--
Freddie Harve Potter, son of Frederic Wilber Potter and LaVeta Nathel Butler Potter was born June 13, 1941 in Mercer County, Missouri and departed this life October 7, 2003 at the Genesis West Medical Center in Davenport at sixty-two years of age.

Fred spent his early years near Leon, Iowa attending the Leon Schools. He was united in marriage to Elsie (Ellie) Marie Cook on April 12, 1964 at the United Methodist Church in Osceola, Iowa. Two children, Robert and Fred blessed this union.

Soon after their marriage, Fred and Ellie moved to the Davenport, Iowa area where he began his career with John Deere. Fred retired from John Deere on July 1, 1997 after thirty-one and a half years of service. Following his retirement, Fred and Ellie became full-time RV-ers, spending several months at the Sunset Lakes Resort in Joslin, Illinois and five months during the winter in Florida.
Fred was a very proud man who enjoyed helping others. He was always there for anyone he knew, for any reason, no matter what.

Fred loved life and enjoyed it to the best of his ability. He and his wife lived their dream life by traveling to so many places in the past few years. He loved spending time with his family, whom he loved dearly, camping, playing many kinds of games (he was even the Roly boly champ last year), playing cards, dominos and rummy cube. His favorite thing was riding his golf cart on the Rock River Trails with his dog, Goldie. In past years, he and Elsie loved to ride touring motorcycles and they are past members of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association. Most importantly, Fred was a Christian and he is now with his Lord.

Fred was preceded in death by his father, Wilber, and his father-in-law, Clarence.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Elsie (Ellie) of Joslin, Illinois; son, Robert Potter of Fairfield, Iowa; son Fred Potter and wife Vicki of Bettendorf, Iowa; 3 grandchildren, Christopher Anderson of Davenport, Brandy and Ryan Denekas both of Bettendorf, Iowa; mother, LaVeta Potter of Seymour, Iowa; two sisters, Janice Lira and husband Ron of Numa, Iowa; LaVoy Buckingham of Winterset, Iowa; mother-in-law, Vera Cook of Osceola, Iowa; brother-in-law, Gary Cook and wife Conda of Osceola, Iowa; four nephews, Jeremy Cook and wife DJ of Iowa City, Iowa; Kiley Cook of Osceola; Scott Buckingham and wife April of Peru; Shawn Buckingham and wife Kara of Grimes as well as other relatives and a host of friends.
