Walter Goodyear Bradley was the youngest son of one of the pioneers of the town of Milton (now Genoa), Jabez Bradley. In 1830 he married Henrietta Todd (1811-1880) and had at least three children: W. Daniel Bradley (1834-1928), Victoria Bradley (b. 1838) and Cornelia E. Bradley (1851-1918).

At the time of his writing his History of Cayuga County (1879), Elliot Storke records that W.G was living in the house built by his father in 1800. The Beers County Atlas of 1875 shows this house to have been on the east side of NY Route 34B, just north of the center of village.
