GALESBURG - Bettie F. Boelkes, 82, formerly of 1316 Kellogg St., died at 4:20 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 8, 2004, at Rosewood Care Center of Galesburg.

Born Aug. 17, 1921, in Macomb to Theodore Marshall and Harriett Maude Lutton Powell, she married Frederick W. "Fritz" Boelkes on April 12, 1947, in Galesburg. He died Feb. 13, 2001.

Surviving are one son, Gary (and Kimberly) of Knoxville; one daughter, Sandra (and Michael) DeWitt of Galesburg; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one sister, Irene Poland of Abingdon.

She was a bookkeeper for Welders Supply Co. for 28 years and then Statice Gardens for 20 years, retiring in 1979.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Galesburg.

Graveside services will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at East Linwood Cemetery. The Rev. Marilyn Anell will officiate. There will be no visitation. Hinchliff-PearsonWest Galesburg Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to Mayo Clinic or Gordon Behrent's Senior Center.
