Emigrants from Massachusetts, They early settled in this County, and in 1808. founded the Village which bears their Name, the site of which was selected by Mrs. Baldwin in 1796. The trials and hardships Incident to the settlement of a new Country Brought them to a premature grave. While living they sustained Creditably all the various relations of Life, and died universally lamented. Fearless enterprise bold Design, unyielding perseverance and unbounded Benevolence were the most conspicuous Among their many virtues. To perpetuate their Names and memory this monument n.. Erected by the hand of filial affection.
