Thomas M. Cox, died at Wilson Memorial Hospital after a brief illness Friday, August 17, 2001. One day short of his 81st birthday. Predeceased by a daughter Joanne F. Cox; his parents Thomas and Ruie Cox; three sisters, Alice Blinn, Rena Reynolds and Anna Cole; one brother Merton Cox; survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Shirley A. Cox, Corbettsville; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Thomas R. and Linda Cox, Conklin, John M. Cox, Portland, Ore.; three grandchildren, Thomas, Whitney, and Caitlin Cox, Conklin; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Beatrice DePue, Endicott, Ada and Arthur Benjamin, Canadensis, Pa.; one brother-in-law Robert Townsend, Binghamton; three special friends, Leon Vergason, Lewis Bullock, Michael Foran; nieces; nephews; and cousins. He was a member of the Conklin Presbyterian Church, a veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S. Air Force, a retired employee of General Electric Supply co. He was an avid live steam railroader all his life and enjoyed working with tools and machines. He was a much loved husband, father, grandfather, neighbor and friend. And was Mr. Fixit to all that knew him and will be greatly missed. The family wishes to thank the staff at Wilson Memorial Hospital for the excellent care Tom received the last three months. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, 10 a.m. from Conklin Presbyterian Church, 1175 Conklin Rd. The Rev. Dr. Stephen Starzer pastor of his church will officiate. Burial will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park, Vestal. The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main St., Endicott, Monday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy in Tom's memory may be made to the Memorial Fund in care of Conklin Presbyterian Church or the Susquehanna Valley High School Dollars for Scholars Program.
