Clara Belle Babcock was born in Elkhorn, Wisconsin September 23, 1887, daughter of Frank and Agnes Babcock. She grew to womanhood in Wisconsin. Later the Babcock family moved to South Bend, Indiana. In 1907 she homesteaded in Wall, South Dakota. On June 12, 1912 she was united in marriage to Joseph B. Lehn at Phillip, South Dakota. After their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Lehn made their home in Oakes, North Dakota. In 1914 they came to Brandon Minnesota. In 1940, Mr. Lehn was employed in defense work at which time they made their home in the western states. For the past fifteen years they have made their home in Salem, Ore.
Mrs. Lehn passed away April 26, 1960 at Salem Memorial Hospital at Salem, Ore., at the age of 72 years. Surviving are her husband and six daughters: Lucille (Mrs. Harry Simons) of Minneapolis; Bernice (Mrs. Hugh White) of Seattle, Wash.; Vera (Mrs. Stan Pollard) of Pasadena, Calif.; Dorothy (Mrs. Joe Abdo) of Los Angeles; Norma (Mrs. Robert Claney) of Calamazoo, Mich., and Agnes (Mrs. John Slagle) of Japan. Also surviving are three brothers: Will Babcock of South Bend, Indiana; Harry Babcock of Wall, S.D.; Art Babcock of Downing, Calif. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Florence, one sister Cora (Mrs. R. Maurice) and one brother, Fred.
