Ruth was born July 10, 1919, in Afton, Wyoming, to Walter Chris Pein and Mary Anna DeRome Pein. She attended school at the Punkin Center in Alpine, Wyoming, O.E. Bell in Idaho Falls, and the Commercial Business Center in Denver, Colorado.
On June 2, 1938, Ruth married Dorald Lavon Jacobson in Idaho Falls, Idaho. The marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on March 18, 1954. Dorald passed away September 22, 1997. In addition to being a homemaker and mother, Ruth worked as an executive secretary and clerk for the U.S. Forest Service and the Bureau of Reclamation. She received three Civil Service Outstanding Performance Awards.
Ruth was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in various callings including Relief Society President and Genealogy Teacher in the Palisades Ward. She loved the outdoors & enjoyed camping, horseback riding and snowmobiling. She was an accomplished swimmer from a very early age. She was an avid game player and particularly loved to play pinochle. She was admired for her sharp mind and was excellent at arithmetic and spelling her entire life. She also enjoyed sewing, crochet and knitting.

Daughter, Jeanine (Larry) Ferguson of Shelton, Idaho;
Son, Lonnie (Relda) Jacobson of Rigby, Idaho;
Son Chad (Carolyn) Jacobson of Roosevelt, Utah;
Son, Victor, (Susan) Jacobson of Idaho Falls, Idaho;
Daughter, Beth (Kent) Barber of Ririe, Idaho;
Daughter Terrill (Brian Hill) Jacobson of Idaho Falls;
22 grandchildren, 73 great grandchildren, and 10 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a sister, Marguerite Mechling, and two brothers, Cliff and Edward Pein.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 17, 2013, at the Ririe Perry LDS Church, 285 2nd West Street. The family will meet with friends from 7:00-8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 South Ammon Road, in Ammon, Idaho, and from 10:00-10:45 a.m. prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Ririe-Shelton Cemetery.
