Maness Christian

Services for James Maness Christian, who died on Sunday in a local nursing home, were held on Tuesday, March 1 at 10 a.m. at Seydler-Hill Funeral Home. The Rev. Douglas Thomas officiated, with interment in the City cemetery.

Pallbearers were James Powell, Chris Powell, John W. Rightmer, John R. Rightmer, Brent Christian and Ray Lee Railey.

Mrs. Christian was born on April 6, 1914 in Gonzales county, to James E. and Iris Ethel Bertling Christian, both natives of Gonzales.

He was married to Margaret Ray Rightmer in Gonzales on April 4, 1953 and she preceded him in death on May 6, 1992. He was a retired brakeman for Southern Pacific Railroad and a member of the Episcopal church of the Messiah.

He is survived by a son, Edward "Buba" Cristian; a daughter, Iris Anna Mohrmann; two step-sons, Martin Rightmer of Luling and John Rightmer of San Antonio; eight grandchildren; several great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, two sisters, Iris Smith of Luling and Magie Hensley of Austin.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, a broth, Henry Christian and a sister, Zelma Wruck
