Husband of Ann Jones Brashear, she was the daughter of William and Dorothy (nee Cager/widow of Mr. Munroe).
Samuel's older brother, Benjamin Brashear, Sr. married Mary Jones, Ann's sister; so the two sets of children were "double cousins", (that is, their fathers were brothers, which made them cousins and their mothers were sisters, which made them cousins a second time.) The girl's father, William Jones sold or gave a plot of land called "Cuckhold's Delight" to Benjamin and Samuel. The brothers lived the rest of their lives on this plot, and their brother, Robert, IV, lived at least part of the time on a plot adjoining.

The births of the children of Samuel and Ann Jones Brashear are registered at St. Barnabas Protestant Episcopal Church in Queen Anne's Parish, Prince George's County, Maryland. Also in the Will of Samuel Brashear in Queen Anne's Parish Records, Maryland. Historical Society, Baltimore; and Maryland Historical Magazine, v. 23, page 113.

1. William Jones Brashear, born Jan. 28, 1694/5.
2. Samuel Brashear, Jr., born Feb. 12, 1696/7 and died 1773. He married his double first cousin, Elizabeth Brashear, daughter of Benjamin Brashear, Sr..
