Funeral services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. in the First Presbyterian Church in Murphysboro for Mrs. Nellie P. Bierer, 83, of 2039 Pine St., Murphysboro.
The Rev. Lee Pope Ward will officiate. Burial will be in Murphysboro City Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Crawshaw Mortuary Chapel in Murphysboro after 4 p.m. Wednesday and until noon Thursday.
Mrs. Bierer died Monday morning in the Jackson County Nursing Home, after a long illness. She was born Oct. 7, 1884, in Bloomington, the daughter of J .J. and Anna K. Seams Peirson. She was married June 1, 1910, in Murphysboro, to Fred G. Bierer, who died Feb. 7, 1949.
Mrs. Bierer was a member of the Presbyterian Church. She was also a member of the Murphysboro Home Extension and the Auxiliary of St. Joseph Memorial Hospital.
Survivors include a son, Fred P. Bierer of Anna; a sister, Mrs. Lucille Gumpper of Ft. Wayne, Ind.; and four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
