Sergeant Barto served with the 393rd Bomb
Group, Combat Crew Training Squadron
from Sioux City Army Air Base.

He was one of eight airmen killed when
B-17F Flying Fortress #42-30750 crashed,
nine miles northeast of Beppo, in
Box Elder County, Utah, during a training
flight.

He resided at 187 La Vina Street, Slovan,
Penn. prior to entering the service.

Son of Paul and Lukeria Barto, both natives
of Russia.


The crew lost were:

2nd Lt. Theodore T Klinger
2nd Lt. William E McClure
T/Sgt. Walter B Belleville
T/Sgt. James M Grisby
T/Sgt.Edward Hittleman
T/Sgt. Edward Kwaczola
Sgt. David J Bell, Jr
