Silas Wilson, 82 of Rison, died Friday, June 20, 2003 at the Cleveland County Nursing Home. He was born July 30, 1920 in Cleveland County to Oscar Livingston and Gertrude Jaggers Wilson. Mr. Wilson graduated from Rison High School and 1940. On January 18, 1941, he married Frances Tyler in Rison. Mr. Wilson was employed 62 years with Buie Funeral Home of Rison, retiring in 2002. From 1952 to 1982, he was a volunteer fireman where served 22 years as Fire Chief. In the early 1950's Mr. Wilson was instrumental in forming the Boy Scouts Junior Deputies in Rison. He coached Babe Ruth and Independent Little League for many years. Mr. Wilson loved to fish and hunt. He attended Rison Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, Frances of the home; two daughters and sons in law, Bennye and Carter Ashcraft of Rison, Patsy and Mike Rybiski of Texarkana, Tx.; son, Jimmy Wilson of Rison; four grandchildren and spouses, Mike and Pam Ashcraft of Little Rock, Kim and T.A. Norton of Woodlawn, Barry and Christy Rybiski of Texarkana, Casey Wilson of Russellville; eight great grandchildren, Chris and Brent Ashcraft, Tyler and Shelbi Bell, Hayden and Ashlyn Rybiski, Nicci and Trey Norton; numerous cousins. Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M., Monday, June 23, 2003 at Buie Funeral Chapel in Rison with Reverend Wade Totty officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-6 P.M. Sunday, June 22, 2003 at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Mike Ashcraft, Barry Rybiski, David Davis, Larry McKinney, Robert Earl Simmons and Ricky Fore. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Buie Funeral Home of Rison.
