Minnesota, Shakopee - OPAL A. CLEMENT, age 92, formerly of Memphis, TN, died Saturday, October 9, 2010. Preceded in death by husband, Oswald, parents, David W. and Mary Newell McIlwain, sisters, Lucille Woodside, Martha Williams, brothers, Lois, and J.C. McIlwain; survived by daughter, Jeannette (Allen) Frahm; brother, Harry McIlwain; sister, Mildred Robinson; grandchildren, Michael, Aaron and Cynthia; great-grandchildren, Dana, Valita, Ruth, Bryan, Joe, and Mark. Opal was born in Crockett County, TN. She graduated from Crockett County High School in 1937 with honors and played basketball on the high school team. She married Oswald Clement of Crockett Mills, TN in January 1938 and was married 51 years before his death. She attended Open Door Bible Church in Memphis, where she was very active in the church. After she moved to Shakopee, she attended Shakopee Baptist Church where you could find her every Sunday morning. She was a homemaker who enjoyed her family, gardening, flowers, and bible studies. Funeral Services will be held at McNearney Funeral Home in Shakopee, MN on Tuesday, October 12 at 6 p.m. Visitation will be from 5-6 p.m., one hour prior to the funeral service. Burial will be in Bethesda Cumberland Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Friendship, TN, where she joins her husband, Oswald. Memorial donations to the Cemetery Fund at Bethesda Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 9651 Highway 188, Friendship, TN 38034. A special thank you to the staff at Belle Plaine Lutheran Home Special Care Unit for the care given to Opal. At last in the arms of Jesus, at peace, and with her heavenly family. She was a special mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She will be greatly missed by all.
