The son of the late Dan Scroggins and Effie (Sloan) Scroggins, he was born July 14, 1923, in Martinsville. His wife, Rose Mae (Plummer) Scroggins, whom he married Aug. 9, 1943, survives.
He was a graduate of Martinsville High School with the class of 1941.He was owner/operator of the Marathon 24 hour Truck Stop in Paragon, Ind. From 1946-1959; Royal Caf� and the Nibble Nook both in Martinsville during the 1960's; Manager of Kentucky Fried Chicken in Martinsville during the 1970's and retired from the State of Indiana Highway Department as local supervisor in February 1989 after 14 years.
He was a Corporal in the US Army during WWII in the 2nd Armored Division from February 4, 1943 to February 4, 1946.
He was a member of Scottish Rite, Valley of Indianapolis and the Masonic Lodge #74 F & AM in Martinsville.
Other survivors include one son, Michael Scroggins of Martinsville; and four grandchildren Lora, Mathew, Marcus and Martin Scroggins and eight great grandchildren.
Four sisters, Lucille Kindred, Mary Poling, Frances Long, and Catherine Leitzman, an infant brother, Harry Scroggins and one grandson, Mason Scroggins, also preceded him in death.
There will be a graveside service on Tuesday, July 6th at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be at New South Park Cemetery in Martinsville. Memorial contributions may be made to Shriner's Children's Hospital.
