He was declared Prince in 1909., and since 1914. he conducted royal duties instead of his old and ill father. Even then Alexander showed his absolutistic pretensions. He was King of Yugoslavia from 1921. to 1934. During his reign, Alexander ruled as dictator. He declared the new Constitution in 1921. under pressure against his ruling style. In 1922. he married Princess Marie of Romania, daughter of King Ferdinand I of Romania. King Aleksandar was assassinated in Marseilles together with minister Loui Barthou. (bio by: Jelena)
