Pat Boatman Blacksher, 68, of Nacogdoches, Texas, passed peacefully from this life January 16, 2012, in her home with her children by her side. She had fought a long and courageous battle with liver cancer. She was born May 16, 1943, in Nacogdoches to parents, Leonard L. Boatman and Stella L. Vardeman. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, January 19, 2012, at Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel with the Rev. Terry Hodge officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Nacogdoches. Ms. Blacksher was preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, Kathleen Fargo, Max Boatman, Marie Bond, Ruby McClelland, Sammye Kolius and Langston Boatman. Pat is survived by daughters, Kim Blacksher Anderson and Missy Blacksher Murdock and husband, Shannon; son, Brandon L. Blacksher and wife, Erin; grandchildren, Alexandria Anderson, Samantha Jho Blacksher, Natalie Murdock, Sophia Murdock, Ben Blacksher and Gus Blacksher; sister, Nell Rumley; sister-in Ğlaw, Lois Boatman; numerous nieces and nephews; and a world of loving friends. Although Pat graduated from Central Heights High School and Massey Business College, she chose to be a stay-at-home mom until her children started school. At that time, she began working at a medical office, where she was an office manager, until retirement. Pat loved her grandchildren most of all but also enjoyed her friends. She loved entertaining friends and family and played canasta with a special group of ladies for more than 30 years. Pat loved going on trips with her "kids," going to concerts, going to the beach and especially making memories. She was thankful for every day she was given, relied heavily on her faith and gave God the glory for every day. She was a great mom, nannie, sister and friend who will be missed by everyone.
