Stephen Jerrard (Jerry) Smith - (December 2, 1940 - December 22, 2006) died suddenly of a heart attack while jogging in Cheyenne Canyon. He is survived by his cherished daughters, Angela Smith of Lenox, MA and Stephanie Smith (Dan Schiller) of Toronto, Canada. He is also survived by his mother Doris Smith (Mrs. S. Yeardley Smith), his brother Samuel Y. Smith (Judy), and his nephew and niece, Nelson and Emily Smith. Born in Baltimore, MD, he attended Calvert and Gilman Schools and the University of Virginia. In addition to his professional career in business, he served on numerous community and charity boards. At the time of his death, he was the CEO of Pikes Peak United Way. His passion for life was evident to all who knew him. His wide-ranging interests included gardening, fishing, sailing, hiking, running, cooking, and music. He loved entertaining; Jerry was the consummate host. He was a loving and devoted father who will be terribly missed by his daughters, Angela and Stephanie, their mother, Gillian Booth, his extended family and numerous friends including his special friend of five years, Vicki Dimond. Memorial Service at Grace Episcopal Church, 601 N. Tejon Street on Friday, December 29, 2006 at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations to The United Way would be greatly appreciated.
