The Hartford Day Spring, Wednesday, August 13, 1913, page 4
George M. Hogoboom was born in Florence, Ohio, November 17, 1853, and died at his home in the northwest part of Hartford township August 7, 1913.
When a small child he removed with his parents to Michigan and had since resided in this section.
He was one of a family of five children of whom only two are now living, a sister, Mrs. R. W. Hastings, and a brother, Jacob Hogoboom, both residents of Hartford township. He was married April 29, 1877, to Miss Mina Gibbs. To this union was given one daughter, Ethel, wife of Roy Gibbs, who with the wife and mother, has tenderly cared for him during his long illness, and now mourn the loss of a kind and loving husband and father.
He loved his home and its interests and was a true, faithful Christian, many years ago accepting Christ as his Saviour, and becoming identified with "The Church of God."
He was taken ill several months ago with organic heart disease. Though suffering greatly at times, and fully realizing his serious condition, he was always hopeful and patient, and resigned to the Father's will.
The end came suddenly on the evening of August 7, 1913, and he peacefully fell asleep in Jesus to await the Resurrection morn.
Blessed hope! The bright star of the morning,
That shall heard His coming to reign;
Oh, the glory that waits its fair dawning,
When we meet with our loved ones again.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Aug. 10, at the Baptist church, Dr. J. C. Branch, of White Cloud, officiating, with interment at the old cemetery.
