John Davis served in the Revolutionary War.
He was originally laid to rest in the Old Leach Cemetery on Route 35 near green's store north of Jackson at Sour Run Road, but later reinterred in Evergreen Cemetery in Coal Twp.

John Davis was born in Wales.
John Davis is listed as a widower and a pioneer of Greentown in Green Twp., Ashland County OH. He was a soldier in the War of the Revolution, the Virginia unit, and died a few years after he came to Ohio, while on a trip to Chillicothe in Holmes County OH to draw his pension.
His daughter, Mary Ann Davis, was born in Lancaster Co. PA ca 1780. She married Joseph Hart who was born 1776 in Lancaster Co. PA.
