Arthur was the second of thirteen children {ten sons & three daughters} born to William John & Clara (Weller) Braun. Arthur operated a garage at Greenbush, MN for many years & was also a member of the Greenbush Fire Department and Lions Club.

He served as mayor of the Greenbush community, which is located in Roseau County, MN for 16 years and as a Minnesota State representative (1972-1978). According to his son, Art believed good communications between the people and elected officials was the key to good, responsive government.

On 1 June 1937, Art married Frances Beatrice Kukowski at St Aloysius Church in Leo, MN; he was age 26, she was 29. Born 30 January 1909 in Barto (Township), MN; Frances was the sixth of seventeen children born to Peter P. & Elizabeth (Stanislawski) Kukowski.

Arthur died on 7 January 1989 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, MN, at age 78. Cause of death = heart problems.
