Joseph Olds Gregg
Birth: Jan. 5, 1841
Death: Feb. 25, 1930

Civil War Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient. He served as a Captain in the Union Army. He was awarded the CMOH as a Private in Company F, 133d Ohio National Guard Infantry for action on June 16, 1864 near the Richmond and Petersburg Railway, Virginia. His citation reads "Voluntarily returned to the breastworks, which his regiment had been forced to abandon, to notify three missing companies that the regiment was falling back; found the enemy already in the works, refused a demand to surrender, returning to his command under a concentrated fire, several bullets passing through his hat and clothing." (bio by: Don Morfe)
