J.G. Lonas Dies as Result of Illness Following Louisville Accident
With the death of Jefferson G Lonas, 72, which occurred Sunday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock at his home on the Niles Ferry Pike, Maryville, The death toll of the Louisville ferry accident of a week ago was increased to five.
Mr. Lonas, his wife and daughter, two grandchildren and Mr. & Mrs. R. E. Goddard composed an automobile party which came to sudden grief Sunday morning, August 26, when Mr. Goddard lost control of the car and it ran over the end of the ferry boat and plunged into deep water. Mrs. Lonas, 68, Mrs. Lucile Lonas Counts, 28; Elizabeth Counts, 6, and Ernestine Lonas, 14, drowned before the closed car could be taken from the river.
