The Very Rev. Adalbert Wolski, T.O.R., 80, died Tuesday at St. Bernardine Monastery, Hollidaysburg.
He was born in Cleveland, Ohio, son of the late George and Elizabeth (Koran) Wolski.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert, and is survived by his Franciscan community.
Father Adalbert entered the Franciscan Seminary in Hollidaysburg in 1950 and professed vows on July 15, 1952, at St. Theresa Chapel in Highland Hall. He was ordained to the priesthood on June 7, 1958. He was one of the first missionaries of the Immaculate Conception Province sent to Paraguay in 1961.
Father Adalbert served in varied ways in a number of dioceses in the United States, including the Diocese of Altoona-Johnstown. He served the Franciscan Order as a member of the General Council and Local Minister in Rome, national spiritual assistant of the Secular Franciscan Order and mission co-op coordinator for his Franciscan Province.
Friends will be received from 4 to 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 8, 2012, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, Altoona, where a vigil service will be held at 7 p.m., and a funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 9, 2012. Committal will take place in the community cemetery at St. Bernardine Monastery.
