Allan Craig Rice was born on October 6, 1956 in Detroit, Michigan to the union of the late John Wesley Rice and Virginia Rice. He was the second of five children born of this union. He attended Christ Lutheran Church as a child where he accepted Christ into his life at an early age. He was educated in the Detroit Public School System and graduated from Northern High School in 1974.

He continued his education at Lawrence Technical University where he studied architecture. Later, he followed in his father's footsteps and began working as a Plasterer Tender with Local 131 for many years. After an intense apprenticeship, he was promoted to the position of Journeyman Plasterer, he was subsequently promoted to the position of Plasterer and he gained employment at the Detroit board of Education.

During this time, Allan also formed his own plastering company which was called Moonlight Plastering Services. He was well respected in his field and had many faithful customers. He later became ill and had to discontinue working in his field and he received a medical retirement.

Allan's journey into fatherhood began on May 6, 1976, when his eldest child, Anthony Craig Rice, was born. He was a devoted father and remained that way after he met and married the love of his life, Yvette Michelle Miller, on July 2, 1983. To this union, he had a beautiful daughter and son, Chanell Yvette Rice and Adam Wesley Rice, respectively.

He loved spending time with his family and friends. He was known as jokester and kept his many friends and family laughing at all times. Whenever his family or friends were in need of help, Allan was always there for them. He could always be counted on to make needed repairs for those he cared for and loved. His family home was a tribute to his creativity in that he built many unique additions to the home. Throughout his years of employment, he took his children on many jobs, teaching them the skills that he had learned.

Allan had a very adventurous spirit. He enjoyed many activities, such as cooking, karate, unicycle riding and pogo stick jumping. He also took classes to enhance his acrobatic skills on the trampoline. He was an active member in his block club. In recent years, the joy of his life had been his two grandchildren, Anthony Craig Rice, Jr. and Elise Renee Rice.

He leaves to celebrate his life and cherish his memory, his wife of 28 years, Yvette Rice, his three children, Anthony Rice, Sr, Chanell Rice and Adam Rice; two grand children, Anthony Rice, Jr, Elise Rice, and their mother, Tamara Boulding. He also leaves to cherish his memories his mother, Virginia Rice.
