Named Ring Magazine's Boxer of the year in 1929 and 1931. Loughran fought 12 world champions, ranging from the welterweight to the heavyweight division. He beat heavyweights like Jack Sharkey, Max Baer and Paolino Uzcudun. In 1933, he earned a title fight against heavyweight champion Primo Carnera. Ranked as the #4 All-Time Light Heavyweight, he was described as quick on his feet with a perfect boxing stance. He was 5'll-1/2" fought 175 fights with 17 ko's, won 96, lost 24, knocked out in 3.
