Mrs Lottie "Grandma" Murphy, who received a new pair of shoes on her 101st birthday last March 1 and hoped she could walk far enough to use them on her next birthday, died Wednesday at the home of her son Rufus in Chickasha. She was born Feb 29, "leap year" at Oceola, MO. Her parents moved the family to Colorado in the gold rush of 1858. In Denver, she met & married John D. Murphy of Pauls Valley. They returned to Pauls Valley to spend most of their life. Besides the son she lived with, she is survived by another son, Wilce of 1736 Euclid Ave, OKC, 5 grandchildren & a number of great-grandchildren. Funeral services are to be announced later. She is a pioneer resident of Tuttle.
Last rights for Mrs Charlotte Murphy, age 101, was held in the Christian church Friday with Ronold Lemmex conducting. Pallbearers were Ben Baker, Horace Potter, Joe Hartin, Hosey Walden, Lester Stowe, & Albert Kluck. Internment was in Fairlawn cemetery east of Tuttle.
