The 1850 Census shows John W. Jones (age 10, born in Indiana) living in Utica, Winnebago County, Wisconsin with parents Samuel (age 34) and Mary (age 35) and siblings Alexander (age 11), Sarah F. (age 8), Elizabeth F. (age 8), Elsia A. (age 6), Mary M. (age 3) and Samuel J. (age 0). The 1860 Census shows John W. Jones (age 19) and siblings Alexander W. (age 20), Sarah T. (age 15), Elizabeth J. (age 17), Alice A. (age 15), Samuel (age 10), William W. (age 8), Francis R. (age 5) and Josiah G. (age 2).

John was killed in the explosion of a steam engine boiler on the John Shockley farm north of Lizton - see details in attached article.
