Additional Info:

George Henry McClenahan was in fact born in Lafayette, Indiana. The confusion arises because he has two sons with similar names as himself, the first born named Henry in Goshen (LaFayette), Stark, Illinois the second born named George in Melrose, Iowa. There is also a town called LaFayette in Stark County, Illinois. The people that were born in Goshen Township, Stark, Illinois they sometimes label that they are born in LaFayette, Stark, Illinois as it is the closest modern town to it. I don't think they use the label Goshen Township anymore. George Henry McClenahan was born in Indiana in Jan 1834 according to his 1900 Census. It also lists Indiana on the earlier Census' of him in his father's house.

The youngest son clears this up on his passport application. He left a long paper trail, with WW1 and WW2 registrations as well. I don't know where he is buried, he traveled a lot.
