Catalina "Kay" Amador Phelper McArthur
1918 - 2003

Father: Ysidro Amador
Mother: Jessie Vasquez Amador
Spouse: Ben Herbert Phelper
Spouse: Douglas Lowry McArthur

DISCREPANCY: With first name between all but two primary sources located (Kay), the 1940 US Census (Catelina -spelled phonetically), and the Social Security Apps & Claims (Catalina -and repeatedly returned to the name Kay on this same document). Overwhelming evidence makes it clear her preference was Kay including her own headstone, obituary, cemetery record, SSDI. It is widely believed (on public family trees copied by each other) that her name was Katalina Andrea, yet not a single record suggests it. Not one. And spelling is different as well. Andrea is in no source at all. Her given name was quite possibly Catalina as she has it on her Social Security record spelled that way but changes it back to Kay over and over on that legal document. Kay herself makes it clear that her preference was Kay; this will be reflected in the title of this memorial, to match her headstone, in her honor.
