Ruth S. DeBevoise
NEWARK: A graveside service for Ruth S. DeBevoise, 84, of Newark will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at Newark Memorial Gardens with Father Jonathan F. Wilson officiating.
Mrs. DeBevoise passed away on January 4, 2012 at Licking Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was born on March 9, 1927 to the late William S. and Edna (Waterman) Sedgwick Sr. in Newark, OH.
She is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, John L. DeBevoise; sons, Drew Allan Bourne of Buckeye Lake and Roger William (Jennifer) DeBevoise of Newark; daughters, Carol Sue (Eric) Kurella of Heath and Edna "Melinda" (Keith) Barnett of Hanover; step-daughters, Carol Ann (Steve) Drobik of Gahanna and Kathy Davies of Middlesex, England; sons-in-law, Dan Hinkle of Missouri and David McLaughlin of Mt. Vernon; brother, William Stew (Margaret) Sedgwick of Newport News, VA; 18 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and special friend, Chuck (Kathy) Holman.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her daughter, Katherine "Kitty" Bourne-Hinkle; brother, John Roger Sedgwick and grandson, Kyle L. DeBevoise.
Mrs. DeBevoise was a member of the 2nd Presbyterian Church for over 60 years and currently a member of the Church of the Blessed Sacrament, Eastern Star #305 for 50 years, D.A.R. and the Monday Talks Club. She was also a Girls Scout Leader, PTA President for Hudson Ave. School, Demoley Mother and Rainbow Girl.
