Sankertown War Vet Dies After Lengthy Illness

SANKERTOWN- P. Joseph Hall, Jr, 42, of 127 Sumner, street, a veteran of World War II, died at 5 o'clock yesterday morning at his home following a lengthy illness.
Mr. Hal) was born March 16, 1911. in Gallitzin, a son of Patrick J. Hall, Sr., and the late Winifred(Dempsey)Hall.
During World War II, he served with the 2nd infantry division, on Dec. 19, 1944, he was captured by the Germans at Ardennes and was liberated May 2, 1945. He was awarded three battle stars.
Until taken ill, he was employed at the Walter Reed hospital, Washington, D. C.
Surviving are his wife, the former Hazel Eckenrod; his father, of Cresson, and four children, Leroy J., Joan A., Elaine T., and Diana, all at home, and five brothers and
two sisters, Ralph of Gallitzin, Frank, Norbert and Jan of Cresson, Mrs. John H. Sich of Westfield, N. J., Edward of Harrisburg and Mrs. Vernon Mixdoff, Milwaukee, Wis.
Mr. Hall was a member of Sankertown V. F. W. post 7371, Sankertown Home Aid association, Cresson American Legion post 238, St. Francis Xavier's Catholic church and Holy Name society.
Prior to moving to Sankertown after World war II, Mr. Hall resided in Gallitzin.
Friends are being received at the Conrad funeral home, Cresson.
