Funeral services for Mrs.Fritz (Johanna) Vornsand,76,were held Thursday,July 30,at Hubbard Funeral Home here.Rev.F.J. Mehrtens of St. Paul United Church of Christ,Schulenburg,officiated.
Mrs.Vornsand died July 28 in Wagner Hospital at Shiner.
A daughter of Mr. and Mrs.John Cordes,she was born Oct.28,1887,in Germany,and came to America with her parents when she was a small child.The family settled in the New Bielau community.Her parents died soon afterward,and she became the foster daughter of Mr. and Mrs.John Behlen.She was confirmed in Trinity Lutheran Church at New Bielau.
She and her foster parents moved to Shiner,and later she made her home with Mr. and Mrs.Charles Flessner in Moulton.At Moulton she was married on Nov.28,1918,to Fritz Vornsand of Shiner,one son,Fred J.,was born to them.
In 1922 the family moved to the Wildwood community near Weimar,and in 1947 they moved to Weimar,making their home with their son.Mr.Vornsand died May 16,1960.
Pallbearers were Fred G. Vornsand,Alvin Vornsand,Edgar Vornsand,Irddie J. Vornsand,Emil Vornsand and Henry Vornsand.
