COLUMBIA WRECK IS FATAL TO ONE--Two others Seriously injured when Carnival trucks rams rear of another.
One man was killed and two others seriously injured a short distance out of Columbia on the Burkesville road Sunday morning when a truck heavily loaded with carnival equipment plunged into the rear of another.
Estel Canada, 52 years old, of Russell Springs, was killed when he lost control of his truck and rammed one driven by Cosby Phelps, who jumped and escaped unhurt. Two colored men, employees of the carnival whose equipment Canada was driving from Columbia to Broadhead, were seriously injured.
Canada's body, badly mangled when he was pinned to the seat by the the steering wheel, was taken to Russell Springs, where funeral arrangements will await the arrival of his oldest son from the Panama Canal Zone, a 17 day trip. Canada is survived by a wife and five children.
