| Birth: | Jun. 11, 1867 | | Death: | May 25, 1940 |  Noted Artist. Marie Triepcke grew up in Denmark. She wanted to be a painter and studied at art school. In 1889 she married Severin Kröyer. Severin Kröyer was a famous painter with a large circle of friends and wanted to live in grand style. He and Marie spent the winters in Copenhagen and the summers in Skagen. All this meant a lot of work for Marie and eventually she gave up painting. She often stod as a model to her husband and was known as "the beautiful Marie". In 1902 Marie fell in love with the Swedish composer Hugo Alfvén. She divorced Kröyer and moved to Sweden to live with Alfvén. She lived in Sweden until her death in 1940. Of later years Marie's paintings have attracted attention and some exibitions have been arranged in Denmark. In 1999 a biography was published in Denmark: "Balladen om Marie" by Tonni Arnold.
