In 1905, Iola died. Chester then remarried.

In the 1906 Pasadena City Directory, Chester D. Sargent is listed as president of the Sargent Shoe Co. He was living at 150 So. Holliston in Pasadena with his daughter, Ruth N. Sargent, who was listed as secretary and treasurer of the Sargent Shoe Co.

In the 1907 Los Angeles City Directory, Chester D. Sargent is listed as president of the L.A. Trading Stamp Co., and living in Pasadena.

In the 1907 Pasadena City Diectory, Chester D. Sargent is still listed as president of the Sargent Shoe Co. and was still living on Holliston. His daughter, R. N. (Ruth) Sargent, is still listed as secretary and treasurer of the same company. The company address was located at 36 E. Colorado Blvd. in Pasadena.

In the 1908 and 1909 Los Angeles City directories, Chester D. Sargent was listed as president of the Southwestern Mortgage Loan & Trust Co., living in Pasadena. There is no mention of his seconf wife, Nellie, until the 1910 census.

In the Apr. 26, 1910 U.S. census, 49 yr. old Chester Sargent, a real estate agent, b. abt. 1861 in IL., was living in Pasadena Ward 6, L.A., CA. with his
second wife, Nellie S. Sargeant, b. in WI.
and her 16 yr. old daughter, Irene Hix, b. in MI.
Chester's parents were both b. in NH.
This was a second marriage for both Chester and Nellie and they had been married for one year.
In the same census, living within walking distance, with their grandmother, Mary F. Nuchells on So. Holliston, were Chester's children:
18 yr. old Gwendolyn Sargent, b. in CA.
16 yr. old Caroline Sargent, b. in CA.
and 7 yr. old Robert C. Sargent, b. in CA.
Mary was the mother of two children, only one of whom was still alive by this census.

Chester married a third time. He married Ida M. Houston Courtney on July 6, 1915 in Orange Co., CA.

In the Apr. 2, 1930 U.S. census, 69 yr. old Chester D. Sargent, a machine supply dealer, b. abt. 1861 in IL., was living alone in Antelope, Los Angeles, CA.
Chester was listed as married.
His parents were both b. in NH.
Chester was 22 yrs. old at the time of his first marriage.

In the 1940 Federal census, 79 yr. old Chester D. Sargent, a merchant, b. in IL., was living at 235 10th St. in a home they owned (not a farm), valued at $3,500 in Antelope, Los Angeles, CA. with his
79 yr. old wife, Ida M. Sargent, b. in IA.
They were living in the same house in 1935.
The highest grade Chester & Ida had completed was 8th.
Chester worked 48 hrs. in the week prior to the census and worked 50 wks. in 1939.
Chester had income coming in from other sources.

Chester died at the Hanna Rich Sanitarium in Pasadena, L.A., CA. on April 9, 1947 at the age of 86 yrs., 7 mos. and 2 days. He was buried on Apr. 11, 1947.
