Funeral service will be held on Friday at 2 PM at Carmichael Funeral Home in Smyrna with Dr. Steve Kimmel officiating.
Burial will follow in Georgia Memorial Park Cemetery in Marietta.
Mary Ann leaves behind her devoted husband of 31 years, Fuller C. Bates, her loving daughter, Suzanne Long Bryant of Alameda, CA, her granddaughters, Jennifer Barber (husband Kelly) and Wendy Lewis (husband Shaun), and three great grandchildren, Emily and Jessica Barber and James McMickle of Davis, CA . Mary Ann had two stepdaughters, Betty Jo Cunter (husband Bennie) and Linda Bryant of Marietta of Acworth, four step-grandsons and wifes, fourtenn step-great grandchildren, and five step-great-great grandchildren.
A native of Shelby County, KY, Mary Ann was the youngest of eleven children born to Frank and Anna Mae Casey. She moved to Georgia in 1964 and earned her B.S. from UGA and her Master's in Education from West Georgia. She moved to Smyrna in 1974 and taught at Powder Springs Elementary until 1985. In 2008, she and her husband moved to Wellington Place in Kennesaw. Previously, they were active member of First Baptist Church of Smyrna. Mary Ann is loved by many friends and family around the country and will be greatly missed. She loved her Lord, the church, her family, and all of the many friends she had made over her lifetime.
