MILDRED WILCOX RITES OCTOBER 17
Funeral services were held Tuesday, October 17, 1978, at the United Methodist Church in Holyoke, for Mildred Wilcox, 78, who passed away Thursday, October 12, in Denver.
Rev. Eldon Shoemaker, minister of the church, officiated at the services. Interment was in Holyoke Memorial Park. Thompson Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
Mildred Wilcox was born September 25, 1900 in Forest City, Missouri to Cyrus Stewart and Jane Thornton Stewart. She moved with her family to Holyoke in 1911 attending schools in Amitie and Pleasant Valley.
She was united in marriage to Lawrence Wilcox in 1919 and to this union one child was born, a daughter, Laura Page. She lived in the Holyoke community until the death of her husband in 1955, at which time she dedicated her life to helping other people by becoming a nurse, working in Denver and LaJolla, California. She was a member of the First Plymouth Congregational Church in Denver.
The last few years she made her home in Denver. She is survived by her daughter Laura Page Houghton, two brothers, Norman and Ross Stewart, three grandchildren, four great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
