82, Goessel

LuEtta June (Schmidt) Frey, 82, passed away on Friday (Dec. 30, 2011) at Kidron Bethel Health Care in North Newton.
She was born on June 23, 1929, in Goessel to Abraham and Elizabeth (Schmidt) Schmidt. On May 19, 1949, she married Raymond E. Frey at Tabor Mennonite Church in rural Newton. He preceded her in death on Nov. 17, 2007. She was a lifelong member of Tabor Mennonite Church.
LuEtta was a homemaker and worked as a personal care attendant and nurse aide. She had a servant heart and loved caring for her dear husband, children and grandchildren.
She is survived by two daughters, Marcene Entz and husband, Thurman, of rural Newton, and Melissa Beitler and husband, Jim, of Berne, Ind.; and son, Sherwin Frey and wife, Debra Fischer, of Los Angeles. Also surviving are grandchildren, Jim Beitler and wife, Brita, of Barrington, R.I., Genevieve Beitler of Chicago, Ashley Beitler of Durham, N.C., and Samantha and Emily Frey of Los Angeles; one great-grandchild, James Beitler of Barrington; three sisters, Emma Reimer of Loveland, Colo., Nola Koehn of Newton, and Viola Ratzlaff of Goessel; as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Waldo, Philip, Marvin, Harlow and Eldon; and one sister, Verna Reimer.
A celebration of life service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Tabor Mennonite Church in rural Newton, with pastor Karen Andres officiating. The family can be greeted one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will occur at the Tabor Mennonite Cemetery at a later time.
Memorials can be made to Mennonite Central Committee or Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, in care of Miller-Ott Funeral Home, 303 E. Main St., P.O. Box 96, Goessel, KS 67053.
