Fern Nunn Whitney, 79, passed away gracefully in her sleep on Nov. 27, 2000 after a brief battle with cancer.
She was born January 17, 1921, in Salt Lake City, Utah, the daughter of Tom and Elizabeth Gibby Nunn. Fern married Edward D. Whitney, September 21, 1940, in Salt Lake City. Their marriage was later solemnized September 21, 1995 in the Salt Lake Temple. Fern was a loving wife, mother, Nana, sister, and friend. Her entire life was dedicated to the service of her family. She lived a graceful life to the end and never complained. She was loved and appreciated for her artistic skills and abilities and volunteered for many years at St. Marks Hospital.
Fern is survived by her husband of 60 years, Edward; seven children, Ed Jr. (Halina) Whitney, Heyburn, ID; Bill (Jeannie) Whitney, Hooper, Pat (Phil) Nelson, Salt Lake City; Dena (David) Hansen, Highland, UT; Susan (Douglas) Weidauer, Riverton, UT; Jan (George) Burnell, Ammon, ID.; Trudy (Craig) Dalton, Taylorsville, UT; 30 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren. Also survived by sisters, Evelyn Whitney; and June Parke; and Brother, Harold (Birdie) Nunn; Preceded in death by two grandchildren, Shelly and Tommy; four sisters, four brothers, one son-in-law.

Graveside services will be conducted on Friday, Dec. 1, 2000, at 11 a.m. at Redwood Memorial Estates, 6500 So. Redwood Road. Viewing one hour prior to the service.
