Kenneth A. 'Waxy' Keener

Kenneth A. "Waxy" Keener, age 82, of Maryvile, passed away Monday, January 2, 2012, at his home.

He was a member of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Maryville where he was Elder and Sunday School Teacher. He was retired from ALCOA and a member of the 25 year service club.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, JoAnn Keener; parents, Clyde and Elizabeth Downey Keener; and brother, George Keener.

He is survived by his wife, Mae Ownby Keener; daughter and son-in-law, Vickie and Curtis Suffridge of S.C.; sons and daughters-in-law, Al and Susan Keener of Maryville, Robert and Sarah Ownby of Knoxville; daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Chuck Sexton of Sevierville. Grandchildren, Chris and Alicia Keener, Tim Keener, Kenny and Erika Keener, Joanna and Phillip Diaz, Andre Phillips, Shane and Christian Suffridge, Adriene Suffridge, Kimberly and Brian Wilhoite, Chris and Risha Sexton, Jill and Todd Smith, Jimmy and Kelly Ownby, Paul Ownby, Gina and Josh Petlitzer and Tracy Welcome; and 13 great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ronald Longmire officiating. The interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to: First Cumberland Presbyterian Church Maryville, 1301 East Broadway Ave., Maryville TN 37804 or a charity of your choice.
