Johanna was from Asdal sogn (=Parish), Vennebjerg herred (=district), Hjørring amt (=county), the daughter of Ide Lydersdatter Holck and Anders Nielsen Panter.

Her first marriage at the age of 14 was to Bonde Due. Her family opposed this marriage and so he abducted her. Together they had 4 children. After Bonde's death she married Niels Eriksson Banner at the age of 29 and they parented 14 children.

She is often called Fru Sappi and became vassal at Aalborghusand in Vendsyssel after the death of her second husband. In extreme old age she lived in her own house by Dueholm Kloster on the island of Mors in northern Denmark.

Johanna was buried beside her 2nd husband in the church cloister; the Dueholm Monastery. A beautiful stone was erected over her and lasted until about the 18th century but the church and the stone have now disappeared. Six brothers of Johanna's all died at a young age and she inherited their riches.

Johanne had four children from her first marriage, and 14 more from two other marriages. In 1462 she was named the overseer at Venesyssel, Norway. She wrote biographies and it is due to her efforts and research that many Norwegians can today trace their ancestors back to the old kings. She seems to have inherited much land and many farms from several important people, including the first king of Sweden and the first king of Denmark.
