Pronounced [ka-ne]. Adopted daughter of Nakamura Toichi, who owned a tea house in Nagasaki.

Married (2) George Clayton Foulk on Sept. 7, 1887. There were no children from this union.
She was an active Christian and after Foulk's death, she worked as an evangelist at Otaru on the north end of Hokkaido Island.
