John J. Roer was born in Germany. John's parents were William Roer, Germany, and his Mother was Anna Marie Mertenmeyer, also of Germany. John came to the United States when he was about 24 years old. John moved to Arizona when he was 30 years old. John married Theresia Fischer in 1913 and they lived in the Phoenix area. John and Theresia had five sons. Frank Joseph, b. January 30, 1915; William Henry, born March 25, 1917; George Benedict, born July 14, 1918; Charles John Marten Roer, born February 16, 1920; and Stephen Simon, born January 7, 1926. John Roer was a rancher.
