DAVENPORT — Wilma Mae Furlow, 78, of Lowden, Iowa, formerly of Davenport, passed away on Wednesday, December 28, 2011, surrounded by family at Select Specialty Hospital, Davenport.
Interment in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Wilma Mae Taylor was born on January 30, 1933, in Anamosa, Iowa, the daughter of John E.Taylor and Loretta (Uhr) Eller. She married John T. Furlow on December 18, 1954, in Bettendorf. He preceded her in death in 1990. She graduated from St. Anthony's School of Nursing in Rock Island in 1953 where she earned her R.N. degree. After many years of nursing, she worked in E.R Admitting at Trinity North, formerly the Davenport Osteopathic Hospital for 28 years, retiring in 2003.
Wilma enjoyed reading, traveling, long drives in the country, John Wayne movies, and country music, especially George Strait. She looked forward to her monthly meals with her brother and sister-in-law and lunches with her school and nurses training friends. Most of all, Wilma loved spending her time with family and friends.
Survivors include her daughter; Loretta "Laurie" (Randy) Millam of Lowden; sons, Robert "Bob" (Karen) Furlow of Long Grove, Richard (Sandy) Furlow of Davenport, and John "Tom" (Tracey) Furlow of Whitehouse, Texas; grandchildren, Rachel Millam, Matthew Millam, Jessica (Ryan) Pitzer, Robert Furlow, Brian Furlow, Jennifer (Evan) Erichsen, Laura (Nick) Giorgio, Joseph Furlow, Jill Furlow, and William Furlow; step-grandson, Kevin Millam; great-grandchildren, Kayla and Katelyn Pitzer, Avery Furlow and Alaina Furlow, Colby, Caty, Keegan, and Campbell Erichsen, and Anna and Wyatt Giorgio; brother, Dean (Mildred) Taylor of Davenport; sister, Mary (Harold) Rippel of Mt. Auborn, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, John T.
