Hiwassee Farmer Called By Death
Jason M. Lowman, a life long and well known resident of the Hiwassee section, passed away suddenly Sunday morning about 2 o'clock, death being due to heart trouble. About 1 o'clock in the morning Mr. Lowman suffered a severe attark with his heart, but it seemed to pass. At 6:30, when Mrs. Lowman arose, he was resting seemingly very comfortably. but a short time afterward she was attracted by an effort on the part of her husband to breathe and in a moment or two death had claimed him. The funeral was held this afternoon from Cecil's Chapel, followed by interment in the cemetery there. The service was conducted by James T. Trolinger, assisted by the Rev. Mr. Henby, pastor of the Methodist church, and the Rev. Mr Horner, of Riner, a former pastor, and was largely attended. The deceased united with the Methodist church early in life and was a member of the board of stewards and a trustee. Mr. Lowman is survived by his widow and these children: Mrs. O. W. Duncan, Mrs C. J. Leache, Misses Evelyn and Lottie Lowman.Chas. J. and Kdward Lowman, all of the Hiwassee section, and Mrs. D. T. Howard, of Danville. There is one sister, Mrs. D. M. Owens, of Salem. He would have been 61 years of age in September. In addition to the cultivation of his farm, Mr Lowman was foreman of the limestone quarry at Peterson for the Pulaski Iron Company for a number of years, However, for the past two years he had not been able even to direct his farming operation., on account of reoccurring heart attacks, having suffered a number of severe spells which apparently at times gave in of proving fatal. He was who enjoyed the esteem of a best of friends all of whom were shocked when the announcement of his death came.
